Do you know there is a plan that will destroy the countryside at BUCK BARN through construction of a NEW TOWN twice the size of Henfield? The effect on Copsale and West Grinstead and all surrounding villages will be TRAGIC.

We understand that there is a need for new homes to be built in West Sussex and our Village Plan includes a proposal for more than 100 new homes on brownfield land. This must be better than random developments on greenfield sites on the basis of side deals between landowners and developers, with no thought for sustaining and maintaining unspoilt countryside!

Do we really want a New Town in West Grinstead that is double the size of Henfield?
The answer is NO!

REASONS TO OBJECT

  • THIS IS A NEW TOWN PROPOSAL
and does not fit any known criteria for sustainable or strategic development
  • The proposal will deliver 3,500 houses into the Weald Cross/Buck Barn area, bringing up to 10,000 new inhabitants
  • A272 will be solid traffic all the way to the M23 and to Billingshurst
  • The roads infrastructure cannot support the development. Fixes at Buck Barn will have a very local and probably negative impact
  • YOUR villages and countryside will be irreparably destroyed as will hitherto unspoilt woodlands
  • The land incorporates a flood plain, removal of which could have serious consequences
